Recommendation and Review

Columbia Gas provides natural gas to the City.  One of its customers, Sentara RMH Medical Center at 25 West Water Street, needs its gas service line replaced.  Columbia conducted a filed investigation and found the service line splits and serves multiple gas meters in the general area.  Columbia needs to correct this situation by installing a mainline.  Due to space limitations between buildings in the area, the most viable location for the mainline is in the South Main Street Parking lot (located between Jimmy Madison’s and Clemintine’s).

Columbia will have to secure a public access permit from the Department of Public Works before installing the mainline.  The conditions of the permit will limit the inconvenience to the adjoining business and the public.  Columbia will perform the work at night so the parking lot can still be used during the day and will consider JMU’s graduation schedule.
