Recommendation and Review

In September 2021, the Public Works Department applied for a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The purpose was to fund the construction of a sidewalk along Country Club Road, spanning from Linda Lane to the Spotswood Mobile Home Park. In 2022, Public Works received notification of the successful awarding of the TAP grant. Subsequently, in 2023, the design work commenced and has currently reached the 60% completion stage. The next phase, involving the acquisition of right of way and easements, is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2024.

It is important to note that the TAP grant for this project is federally funded, necessitating the holding of a Public Hearing before any right of way or easements associated with the improvement project can be acquired. The project will require obtaining right of way and easements from two (2) property owners, as illustrated in the attached plan set.
