Recommendation and Review

The Alpine Loop Gran Fondo is organized by Bishop Racing LLC and the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition and is planned for 9/27/20 from 8am-7pm. This would be the 10th year of the Alpine Gran Loop Fondo, a cycling event that starts and finishes at Turner Pavilion & Park in downtown Harrisonburg.

 

The event requires the full closure of Warren St. and the rolling temporary closure of Main Street, Court Square and W. Market St. during the start of the race from approximately 7:45am-8:15am. The race begins at the City Hall parking lot.

 

This event application was reviewed and approved by the Special Events Committee on 03/12/20.

 

The total cost of the event is estimated at $1,331, to be split between the organizer and the City.

 

Key Issues:

-PW Support (signage, flush truck, barricades, roll-off container)

-HPD Support (6 + supervisor for ABC and traffic management/rolling closure)

-Turner Pavilion & Park Rental (see attached for reservation confirmation)

-Insurance documents attached

-ABC License, food vendor lists, and business licenses will be submitted prior to the event
