Consider adopting a resolution for approval and ratification of a Real Estate Purchase Agreement

Body

Presented By:  Chris Brown, City Attorney

Recommendation and Review

Consider approval and ratification of a real estate purchase agreement dated August 21, 2019 between the City and Bill Neff (the Agreement) for the purchase of 0.751 acre for an entrance to the new high school property.  On January 23, 2018, City council voted to approve the Harrisonburg City School Board’s request to fund a second high school and to authorize the City Manager and City Attorney to negotiate and execute a contract to purchase real estate necessary for the new high school.  On August 22, 2018 the City purchased approximately 60 acres for the new school.  The City has now entered into a contract with Bill Neff to purchase 0.751 acre of real estate necessary for the construction of one of the needed entrances to the new high school property.  The purchase price for the property is $150,000.  The Agreement is subject to ratification by Council and appropriation of the funds for the purchase.
