As part of National Recreation Park Association initiatives, Harrisonburg City Council recognized July 2017 as Parks and Recreation Month in Harrisonburg. A proclamation is available for City Council to read recognizing July 2018 as Parks and Recreation Month. After recognition, Parks and Recreation would like the opportunity to present new Parks and Recreation month activities and specials within our parks and facilities for July 2018 Parks and Recreation Month. Our department wishes to be present at the June 12 City Council meeting to present a brief slideshow of photos and activities taking no longer than 15 minutes. A few special activities that will be covered include a Social Media Photo Contest, 50 Mile Fitness Challenge, and special deals at our facilities. Through this opportunity, we would like to acknowledge department staff for daily work done to enhance our community’s quality of life while promoting the fun activities available to the community this July 2018.
