Recommendation and Review

Section 15.2-1712 of the Code of Virginia enables localities to adopt an ordinance allowing for the employment of off-duty law enforcement officers. As proposed, this ordinance will allow law enforcement officers to engage in off-duty employment that may require them to exercise their law enforcement authority, pursuant to rules and regulations established by the Chief of Police.
