Recommendation and Review

The Harrisonburg Police Department currently uses an ALPR system under a contract dated June 30, 2023 between the City and Flock.  At its meeting on July 14, 2026, City Council directed staff to prepare a policy prohibiting the use or procurement of ALPR systems using fixed, mounted cameras in the City.  City Council further directed staff to terminate the Contract with Flock, to cease using the City’s current ALPR system, and to secure the removal of the ALPR system, including its cameras.
