Recommendation and Review

Public Works Department requests support for a grant application to the VDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to fund the construction of sidewalks on the east side of Reservoir Street between Hawkins Street and Kenmore Street, installation of rectangular rapid flash beacon (RRFB) crosswalk with push-button actuation at the intersection of Norwood Street, and two flashing school zone signs on Reservoir Street.

The TAP program is a reimbursement program administered by VDOT that may be used for projects that meet certain criteria for enhancing surface transportation. The program requires a 20% minimum match by the locality. The total project cost estimate is $189,980. The grant request is for $151,984, requiring a local match of $37,996.

A public hearing has been advertised for this meeting as required for the TAP grant application.
