Title

Consider approving the naming of a new street in Parkview Section of Harrisonburg, as part of the Fire Station #5 Project.

Presented By:  Matthew Tobia, chief, Harrisonburg Fire Department

Recommendation and Review

Staff identified during early stages of planning that a new public street on the subject property would be appropriate to ensure safe access to the fire station and facilitate the efficient movement of apparatus into and out of the proposed fire station, avoiding direct discharge onto Mt. Clinton Pike from the front ramp. The roadway would also support future development of the remaining parcels on the subject land owned by the city.

Staff work closely with the various departments who have a role in vetting street names and the proposed street name conforms with all requirements, including 9-1-1 services.  The selection of Integrity Drive aligns with one of the identified core values of the Fire Department.
