Recommendation and Review

Community Care is a new model to bring neighborhood-level health and wellness services to historically marginalized and under-resourced communities and to improve total health. Sentara approached the City of Harrisonburg seeking partnership with the City to allow for its Community Care Mobile Clinic to locate on two City properties: Ralph Sampson Park and the Homeless Services Center. Images showing the locations are included as memorandum Attachment A. City staff seeks City Council approval to proceed with this partnership. If approved, City staff will work with Sentara to develop a Space License Agreement and a schedule for use of the locations. Additionally, City staff received a notice of award for a Sentara Cares Grant to partially cover the additional expense the City will incur in order to upgrade the Homeless Services Center parking lot to accommodate use by the Mobile Clinic. If the partnership is approved by City Council, City staff will accept the grant funding.
