Consider adopting a resolution ending the Local Emergency related to recent and potential severe weather events effects on the Harrisonburg Water Treatment Plant
Body
Presented By: Chris Brown, City Attorney
Recommendation and Review
At its meeting held on May 16, 2025, the Harrisonburg City Council adopted a resolution declaring a local emergency due to a diminished potable water supply as a result of the reduction in the functionality of the Water Treatment plant caused by the high water turbidity. The City Manager has advised that based on the status of the Water Treatment Plant and water storage, it is appropriate for City Council to end the declared emergency effective May 27, 2025, as contemplated under Virginia Code § 44-146.21.
