Consider authorizing the City Manager to Grant VDOT Utility Easements

Recommendation and Review
As part of the I-81 widening project, VDOT needs to relocate certain utility facilities on property owned by the City. To facilitate this utility relocation, VDOT has requested the City grant it certain easements on property owned by the City.
City staff have reviewed the proposed easement, confirmed that the requested easements are consistent with the City’s previous understanding of the scope of the I-81 widening, and have no concerns with the proposed easements. Therefore, staff recommends City Council authorize the City Manager to grant utility easements to VDOT that substantially conform to the proposed easements.
