Given the ongoing discussions between City Council and the School Board relative to school system space needs and the likelihood of requiring the issuance of general obligation bonds to pay for any building project, staff requested that the city’s financial advisors give a presentation to council on our current debt status relative to the bond rating agencies, our existing debt profile, and some preliminary capital funding scenarios for possible school projects.
