Recommendation and Review

The Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley is requesting the use of the Linda Lane course on Sunday, November 18 from 2pm-3:30pm for the Girls on the Run 5k. The race comes at the end of a 10-week season for girls in the program, and the organizations partners with schools and after school organizations to form teams of 3^rd-5^th grade girls and 6^th-8^th grade girls. Between 9 and 11 teams are expected to participate-200-300 participants total. The race is also open to the public, but is untimed and serves to build confidence, perseverance and practice goal setting.

The organizer has received approval from Skyline Middle and Smithfield Elementary and has notified area churches that may be impacted by the closure.

HPD, PW, and HFD have reviewed and approved the event. HDPT routes are not impacted by the proposed closure.
